Deathbed Wishes: What Will You Regret?

Deathbed Wishes: What Will You Regret?

If You Were On Your Deathbed today, What Would You Regret?

Have you ever wondered, if you were on your deathbed, what three things you would wish you had done differently? Imagine looking back on your life and identifying the three biggest regrets. Now, consider what you can do every day or every week to avoid those regrets and fulfill those wishes.

I recently listened to a financial podcast where the guest discussed this very topic. He called it the "reversed obituary." Instead of waiting until it's too late, he reflected on what he wants his obituary to say: that he was a good dad, helped his community, was good to his kids, great spouse and left the world a better place. Notice what's missing? It's never about tangible things like money or possessions.

The guest shared a powerful story about a man whose kids shared his obituary  and it read "He was a terrible person, hated everyone, made a lot of money, and knocked everyone over and we hope he can now take his money with him." It was a stark reminder that people don't remember you for your wealth but for your character, wisdom, and kindness.

Most people crave respect and admiration. Which is best when you get it because you had  love, intelligence, humor, wisdom but unfortunately those who can't get the respect and admiration from these things think they might get it from buying expensive cars and houses all the materialistic things. The reason a lot of rich kids grow up spoilt is because they grow up being told nothing in the world matters more than money, the parents are obsessed with money. Instead, if you teach them the importance of love, intelligence, wisdom, and humor, they learn what truly matters in life. Kids imitate what they see, not what they’re told.

The Best Financial Advice

How much money is enough? John D. Rockefeller was famously asked this and replied, "Just a little bit more." The key is to focus on what gives you true contentment: health, family, exercise, sleep, and mental clarity. True wealth is knowing what is enough. Do you know what is enough? Think about someone you admire who might secretly be miserable despite their success.

Knowing what you truly want in life is harder than knowing what you need.
